What's Happening at the Library

This is an exciting time at the Eldorado Library. In September, during Town and Country Days, the Friends of the Library had a float (the took second place in civic organizations) and an Art Show & Contest.

The FREE Computer classes continue, with new classes and schedules each month. If you could benefit from an evening class let us know. If there is enough interest one can be scheduled.

Story Hour is meeting on Thursdays, from 10 to 11 am. A Special Thanks to Betsy Oldham, for planning and leading this wonderful activity for parents and preschoolers ages 1 to 4.

BIG NEWS--Southern Illinois Libraries on the Go (downloadable eBooks) are now available for the Kindle! Visit www.eldorado.lib.il.us to try our this exciting new service. These books are also compatable with most other ereaders. Audiobooks, movies and music are also available to download. This service is open 24/7 and NO LATE FEES!

This week we are getting a new roof as ours was damaged in April and needed replaced. Please excuse the ratta-tat-tat overhead, it shouldn't last much longer.

Monday, October 17, at 10 am, Owen Brill will be speaking about the book "Dapper and Deadly" by Taylor Pensoneau.

On Sunday, October 30th, (from 2-4 pm) there will be a reception for the SIC Senior Art Class and two local authors will be autographing their books. Rosalie Murray will be selling her new children's picture book "Yum Yum and Her Christmas Mouse" and Jean Pollack will have two local history books for sale, Eldorado High School Graduates (updated to include 2011 grads) and Averill Mathis' History of Eldorado.

Today, October 14, is Winnie the Pooh's 85th birthday, so Happy Birthday, you lovable old bear!
