A New Service at the Eldorado Library

Do you like to listen to audio books? What about reading e-books? Wish you could download some for free? All you need to get started.is a valid Eldorado Library card, A pin number (available by calling or visiting the library) and a computer. In order to download you will have to install some free software that is available on "Southern Illinois Libraries on the Go" website. Titles can be enjoyed immediately or transferred to a variety of devices, including, Nook, iPod, Sony Reader and many other e-book readers and mp3 players. Some audio titles can also be burned to CD to listen on-the-go. Titles will automatically expire at the end of the loan period. There are no late fees!

Eldorado patrons who download an audio book or an e-book or watch a demo of this new library service (between March 5th and April 12th) will be entered in a drawing to win a NOOK Color or an iPod. The Friends of the Eldorado Library are providing the prizes (one of each device.) The drawing will be held during National Library Week on Wednesday, April 13th.

"Southern Illinois Libraries on the Go" is a growing consortium of 11 public libraries that have joined forces to bring downloadable audio and e-books to the patrons of our communities. The consortium has chosen Overdrive, a Cleveland, OH based company as the vendor for this service. Overdrive is a leading full-service digital distributor of e-books, audio books, music and videos for libraries and other resource providers. Additional titles will be purchased as funding permits,
